Voices of Support - Ken Hilte, Retired Commander, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office

"I am proud to endorse Sheriff Roybal. Effective leadership in law enforcement requires more than experience in one area of public safety; it demands a comprehensive understanding of every aspect of the sheriff’s office and the ability to lead each of those areas with knowledge, integrity, and accountability.

Sheriff Roybal brings the expertise and leadership necessary to address the full range of public safety responsibilities, from patrol operations and criminal investigations to jail operations, personnel management, and the administrative functions that keep an organization running effectively. Each of these areas plays a critical role in protecting our communities, and success requires a leader who understands how they work together to fulfill the mission of public safety.

Throughout my 30 + year Law Enforcement career, I have come to appreciate the importance of experience, sound judgment, operational knowledge, and strong administrative leadership. A sheriff must be prepared to make difficult decisions, support the men and women who serve, manage resources responsibly, and ensure that every division of the organization operates professionally and effectively.

Sheriff Roybal has the knowledge and perspective needed to lead across these responsibilities. I believe that comprehensive experience, combined with a commitment to accountability and service, is essential to building a sheriff’s office that earns the public’s trust and delivers results.

For these reasons, I am pleased to offer my endorsement of Sheriff Roybal. I believe he has the expertise, leadership ability, and understanding of the many demands of the office to provide effective leadership and keep public safety at the forefront."
