Joe Roybal has served in the Sheriff’s Office for over 26 years. His career began in 1995, graduating from (P.O.S.T) Peace Officer Standards and Training Academy. Joe had advancements starting at Sergeant (2010), Lieutenant (2014), Commander (2017), Bureau Chief (2020) and to Undersheriff (2021). He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy.
He has a long history of public safety experience, strong collaborative background in public administration, and has developed great partnerships in our community. Joe is committed to lead with integrity, collaboration, and transparency. He will continue to strengthen partnerships that lead to better law enforcement relationships in our community.
In his 26 years of service with the Office, he served in diverse capacities to include Floor Security, Court and Transport, Internal Affairs, Intake and Release, the Special Response Team, Metro, Vice, Narcotics, and Intelligence while working with Street Impact Team, a Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Team, and Marijuana Regulation, Concealed Handgun Permits, Inmate Classification, Training, Recruiting, and Budget and Finance.
He is a life-long Colorado Springs resident dedicated to his family as well as community. He takes great pride in his community service while continually serving on various boards and committees.
Joe will be responsive to the citizens of El Paso County and to run the Sheriff’s Office with honesty and integrity all while upholding the oath to protecting the United States Constitution.
